Hey All, I don't write haiku generally speaking. I recently sent the only one I had (written some years ago) to Poetry Pea. The editor, Patricia, responded back with a request for more haiku to "get a better sense" of how I write haiku. Apparently you are supposed to submit haiku in batches, not singly. I spent the next few days writing more haiku based on the upcoming monthly themes for Poetry Pea and sent them in. A few days later I received an acceptance for one of my haiku in the SOCIAL ISSUES category. It is scheduled for a reading for the Nov. 16, 2020 Poetry Pea Podcast and inclusion in the Poetry Pea Winter Journal. Poetry Pea is a non-paying market but Patricia, who is very British, is nice to work with and seems to really know her stuff when it comes to haiku monoku (which, to be honest, I didn't even know was a thing), etc. If you like writing these challenging, short form poems, I would encourage you to give Poetry Pea a try.

Nice Michael. My poke around there some. I have been looking for something else to stretch my writing.

Thanks for sharing. I've always found poetry, at least the kind where you are counting syllables, really frustrating. Haikus might be the only exception because they are so short. Aaand now I'm off to google what monoku means.
