Hi I am a new author hoping to be published one day (aren't we all!) and I would love some honest critiques from fellow horror writers.
My book is a fast paced horror novella set in Indiana. The story follows a young adult, under achiever, who is border line alcoholic as gains new strength while watching the world fall around her.
This is a snippet of my book The Mother of All Fears which can be found on Amazon for .99 cents:
I didn’t want to seem weak, though I was. “You go ahead. I just woke up from being practically comatose for two days remember? I’m good,” I lied, rather convincingly even to myself. I was exhausted both mentally and physically but I knew he had to be tired too and I couldn’t do this without him. Who knew what tomorrow would bring. Kirk gave a defeated sigh and handed me his gun. “Safety on, safety off,” he showed me even though I had already made use of it with the deranged girl from the road. He then laid his back against the moss covered bottom of a tree and was asleep in seconds. The warmth of the night made it even more difficult to stay awake despite the pure lethargy. If it weren’t for the attraction my perspiring body gave off to every mosquito within a hundred miles we would both be asleep and ready like a breakfast buffet for the infected. I swatted the bugs away. Stay awake! I begged myself.
