I just finished watching the series premiere of Survivors on BBC-A. It looks very promising. An extremely viral and lethal flu has wiped out a huge percentage of the population. Although the group of survivors may be a little cliched (the mom searching for her son, the orphan boy, the Blaine who has to make it in a world without his usual level of affluence, the killer who no one knows is a killer) it does show promise.
I was especially impressed with the cinematography and sound quality. We know the "mom" character is feeling isolate, but the overhead pan out shot where all we here is birdsong drove the point home. The subtle buzzing of flies as the characters move through a supposedly empty house increased the creep factor 10 fold.
I am really looking forward to the rest of the series (and not just because it might help inspire some apocalyptic fiction).

Oh, and for the record I think the entire country should sue CBS and Jeff Probst for breach of contract. How can you call a television show "Survivor" if no one dies? Everyone lives? They just kicked off the island? Seriously?
How bloody disappointing.

So it's kinda like 28 Days Later? Or is there no longer the threat of infection and everyone's just trying to figure out how to live?

If I had my way, Survivor would end like Murder in Small X - with two people going out and only came back. Then the rest of the group would eat the loser.
