SFWA removes Amazon.com links from websiteExcerpt: Due to Amazon.com’s removal of many of our authors’ books from its ordering system, we are removing Amazon.com links from our website. Our authors depend on people buying their books and since a significant percentage of them publish through Macmillan or its subsidiaries, we would prefer to send traffic to stores where the books can actually be purchased.Discuss.

<applauds>
It is a bold but understandable move that the SFWA has made. Walk into the Sci Fi section and look around. Count the book which are not put out by TOR, shouldn't take too long. Hopefully this will help drive home the idea that Amazon is hurting authors (who don't make all that much to begin with) not their publisher.
One of the people I follow on Twitter wondered how many new releases by new authors had been hurt by Amazon's actions.
I hope that the HWA (and other literary organizations) follow suit. It would be a nice show of solidarity.
Besides, it might be Dorchester and the Leisure imprint next time.

And before you ask about the solidarity thing, yes. I have just finished removing the Amazon links from my own website's promotional pages and blogged about why.
The gods hate a hypocrite.
