(waiting for the groans to die down)
Just curious to see what everyone thinks of this show. Personally, if it wasn't about vampires, I'd never be watching it. It's basically Bev Hills 90210 rehashed for the daylight challenged. It's full of cliches: angst, good bro vs. evil bro (who actually had his heart broken once), witchcraft, snotty little high schoolers, family tragedy, secret councils, blah blah blah.
At least there doesn't seem to be on fleck of sparkles anywhere.

Okay, so they don't sparkle, but do they whine? Do they run around in rented formalware and sport euro-trash accents?

I like how modern thrillers always give the reason for turning to a life of crime and murder as "getting his heart broken".

What ever happened to vampires being mean, rotten evidoers that would kill someone else grandmother or a small kid? What is society coming too?

No euro-trash accents and armani suits. The human, Kate (?), does whine, as does her friend who found out her ancestors were all witches. But the vampires don't seem to bitch as much. And Tom, the evil brother, he's the kind of vampire you're talking about. He kills everyone, and turns them when he's bored.

By the way, this show has now gone from 90210 to Dynasty. I swear... high schoolers trying to go all grown-up drama on me. Hysterical!

From what I understand, this is a general trend (Gossip Girl?). The plots of the dramas and "reality shows" that my coworkers discuss seem to have less and less to do with high school regardless of the stated age of the characters.
Ah, to be young and attending DiGrassi...

I actually watched a few eps of this series and its so watered down and cliche, I stopped. I read the books a long time ago (we are talking back in junior high/high school). The books were decent for what they were (angst ridden bad boys meets bored good girl from a small town storyline). But the drama on the show is laughable and so overly dramatic its funny.
yeah there is a family of witches...and if they follow the books, they'll be a family of werewolves coming into play as well...
