Is anyone besides myself ridiculously excited to see this movie?

I am. I remember the original and loved it. I don't really consider it a classic so I'm not that worked up about a remake. It was crap as an original but still fabulous so this updated version - IN 3-D - should be hysterical! Was the original in 3D?

The original wasn't in 3D. I remember liking it back in the day but, to be honest, I'd probably have to watch it again to be sure. From the previews, it looks like they are amping up the cheesiness factor in the remake.
Oh, and we watched "The Box" with Cameron Diaz this morning and it had to be one of the biggest pieces of shit I've ever seen.

All right everyone, it's out now. Anyone up to seeing it this weekend? I'm also thinking about The Last Exorcism.

I saw Piranha last night and I'm glad to say that it lived up to all my expectations.
Now, granted, this is not The Excorcist and it doesn't try to be. The movie doesn't take itself seriously at all. It's over the top in every respect. There is lots of naked women, tons of gore, lots of naked women, a cameo from a Jaws character, and lots of naked women. What's not to love?
And if you ever wanted to know what a piranha munching on a CGI severed penis would look like, this is your movie.
Even my wife loved it, and she prefers Steel Magnolias to Dawn of the Dead.
And The Last Excorcism does look pretty cool. They also showed the preview for Saw 3D before Piranha and that looks good as well. But I still have to see Saw 6 first.

And if you ever wanted to know what a piranha munching on a CGI severed penis would look like, this is your movie. That should be on the marquee posters. Why is that line not part of the national advertising campaign?
